These progressive solos include first and fourth position. Through a variety of styles and articulation, the young bassist will experience the rich, full sound and rhythmic flexibility, which are the characteristics of the bass and define the bassist. Whether being moved by the beauty of the long bow sound in "Down the Road" or feeling "in the pocket" playing the jazz swing style of "Step Right Up," the young bassist will realize that no other instrument can make the same connection between musician, soul, and instrument.

These bass solos are in the "Solo and Ensemble Suggested List of Music for Junior " of the Ohio Music Education Association (USA). There are also a few pieces from this book that are currently in the NYSSMA solos manual in the USA.
