Piano a 4 manos / 2 pianos
Beschrijving
Granados wrote only two works for piano 4 hands: En la aldea (In the Village), and Dos marchas militares (Two Military Marches). His only work scored for 2 pianos is not an original work, but is a transcription of "Triana" by Isaac Albéniz, originally written for piano solo.
Granados performed numerous concerts of works for 2 pianos and piano 4 hands with Edouard Risler and with Joaquín Malats. Thus, it is somewhat surprising that he did not compose more works for either of these two formats. This edition is the first publication of En la aldea. The only previous edition of Dos marchas militares is the one published by Unión Musical Española, Madrid. Editorial Boileau published Granados' transcription for 2 pianos of "Triana" for the first time in 1990.
Given that most of the manuscripts and first editions of these works are not dated, based on all the available evidence, this edition proposes the following order:
- 1. En la aldea (piano four hands),
- 2. Dos marchas militares (piano four hands),
- 3. Triana (2 pianos).
