Arias & Waltzes from the Magic Flute
Description
Georg Friedrich Fuchs studied composition with Joseph Haydn annd Chrisitan Cannabich. A list of publishing houses from whom he worked is impressive and includess André, Decombe, Gaveaux, Hentz, Imbault, Janet, Jouve, Leduc, Lemoine, Naderman, Ozi, Schlesinger and Sieber. It was about 1789 that Sieber published Fuchs' arrangement for two clarinets 'Airs et Walzes de la Flute Enchantée'. It comprises sexteen of the well-known arias from Mozart's 'The Magic Flue' and four triple-time excerpts which Fusch designated waltzes. He left little in the way of phrasing or dynamics. Phrasing has therefore been supllied thourghout the present edition. Ornaments have been written out and expression marks from the operatic score added.
