Author's Note :

The tunes presented in this collection of miniatures featured in stage productions and films from various periods. I chose the themes I especially cherish and hope that I will not be only one who finds them appealing.

I deliberately avoided using chords in order to make it possible for the solo part to be performed on other instruments as well. The term '

ad'libitum' implies not only complete freedom of rendition, but also freedom to make any changes deemed approriate to particular tessituras.
