Description

De Engelse componist Andrew Lloyd Webber heeft de laatste vijftien jaar kans gezien het ene wereldsucces na het andere te produceren. Na de geruchtmakende musical en film 'Jesus Christ Superstar' uit 1971 volgden 'Evita' (1976), 'Cats (1981), 'Song and Dance' (1982, een combinatie van 'Variations' en 'Tell me on a Sunday'), 'Starlight Express' (1984) en 'Requiem' (1985). Zijn musical 'The Phantom of the Opera' ging in 1986 in Londen in première met Sarah Brightman en Michael Crawford in de hoofdrollen. De musical won zowel de Laurence Olivier Award als de Evening Standard Drama Award voor de 'Best Musical of 1986'.
