Description
The title - Madrigal - refers to a particular form of chamber vocal music of the Renaisssance, performed a cappella without instrumental accompaniment.
In this piece, my approach to the piano was to treat it not as "accompanist" in the usual sense of the term, but as a means of generating an echo, of initiating a phrase or reaffirming it. The listener will also perceive some inflexions of Central European music - a modest homage to Bartók and Kodaly who sought to provide young students with means of expression adapted to their level.
