Hansel and Gretel (Vocal score)
Description
Engelbert Humperdinck's 'Hansel And Gretel' actually began life as a short entertainment for a children's birthday party. Humperdinck enjoyed this project so much that he immediately set about turning it into a full-scale opera with a text by Adelheid Wette. When completed, he sent the score to Richard Strauss who was so impressed he conducted the premiere and catapulted the opera to fame. It is now regarded as the leading children's opera in the repertoire.
This is the Schirmer edition of the Vocal Score, edited by Hamilton Benz and is in English only - the translation being by Constance Bache.
