Neben dem Fluss (By the River)
Description
Toshio Hosokawa received his training in Tokyo and in Germany (studying with Isang Yun and Klaus Huber, among others).
He has won numerous awards and prizes and has been invited to many important festivals of contemporary music as guest composer or as a lecturer.
"By the River" was inspired by Hermann Hesse's story "Siddharta". The harp is an instrument that lends itself readily to the "river" metaphor and this connection is pointed out by the words of Fährmann's poetry, here to be spoken by the player, telling us to "listen!" and "listen more carefully!"
