
Leo Brouwer was fascinated by Minoru Miki's music used as the soundtrack for the Franco-Japanese film The Empire of the Senses (1976) by Nagisa Ôshima, based on a true story of love and death in 1930s Japan. It was precisely the main theme of the film, The Young Sprout, which Brouwer versioned for guitar five years later with the author's knowledge.
This edition has been exhaustively revised by Ricardo Gallén, who included new fingerings and articulations.
